My Client is a very exciting and growing Biotech using cutting edge technology to satisfy unmet needs in the Ophthalmology arena. They are looking for an Assistant Lab Manager to join their team based in Kings Cross, London.
The Assistant Lab Manager will be reporting to the Laboratory Manager and will be an aid to the function of the overall laboratory operations. This is an important role in the support of a various different teams to achieve the business’ end goals. The position has much scope to be able to develop over time and as such are looking for hard-working and motivated individuals with a passion for Laboratory management and personal growth.
Currently, the business is in the process of moving sites, the assistant lab manager will be supporting the Lab Manager in the establishment of the new site, which will include a variety of tasks including but not limited to, liaising with vendors, procurement of equipment and planning stock. Post establishment the Assistant Lab Manager main responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Equipment:
- Maintain equipment through routine checks and arranging servicing
- Liaising with service engineers
- Involved in the environmental monitoring system
- Stock:
- Procurement and stock of lab consumables
- Setting up and managing Kanban or similar visual management lean system to track stock
- maintain agreed stock levels
- General
- Performing housekeeping
- Assist in maintaining high standards of lab procedures and training
- Consider ways to streamline processes for continuous improvement.
- Health and Safety
- Help in the maintenance of Health and Safety systems
- Aid in the maintenance of COSHH system
- Uphold Health and Safety rules
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in a biological sciences subject
Attributes
- Previous experience in a high volume laboratory is preferred
- Experience of lab procurement and stock management
- Some experience of lab management
- Must be a good communicator
- Highly Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
- Excellent time management skills required
- Must have integrity and a strong attitude to quality
- Needs to be a good team player
