The Scientific Partnerships Director Europe Medical Affairs, Oncology Business Unit (OBU) is a member of the Global Scientific Partnerships Team within the Global External Alliances organization, and will support the Europe Oncology Medical Affairs Teams within the Oncology Business Unit. The Director Europe Scientific Partnerships is accountable for leading the External Scientific Engagement plan in Europe. The incumbent will report into the Global Head of Scientific Partnerships.
The Director Europe Scientific Partnerships would utilize his/her extensive expertise in oncology, and alliances management as an internal expert to define and implement a comprehensive scientific external engagement strategy at the European level. The Director Europe Scientific Partnerships is one of the key AstraZeneca scientific contacts for the strategic Academic partners such as European Cancer Centers, Cooperatives groups and National Cancer Bodies.
The Director Europe Scientific Partnerships will work in a matrix environment directing and supporting medical network colleagues within Oncology Medical and other functions to ensure effective design and subsequent implementation of the External Alliances strategy.
Leverage strategic oncology external partners in Europe -Cancer sites, Cooperative groups and National Cancer Bodies- and develop European scientific engagement strategy with European cancer centers and cooperative groups in area of interest through scientific collaborations with the key European Oncology Academic Partners.
Link to the EU OMAHs and provide scientific engagement support to all EU Oncology Medical Teams within the Oncology Business Unit.
Engage internal GMA stakeholders in particular from GMA Franchises to ensure medical insights from them to establish priorities and build up an EU Scientific Partnerships strategy.
Bridge with External R&D and R&D teams to support external experts engagement.
Reinforce external experts engagement by driving Science Forums initiative as needed.
Maintain compliance with all company compliance and regulatory guidelines governing external interactions
Responsible for the plan delivery and manage budget and vendor oversight associated with external activities
Doctorate in Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, or equivalent required
Strong experience in Oncology (Basic, Translational, Early Dev Research)
Strong interpersonal and project management skills
Experience managing programs in a team environment
Strong knowledge of public-private partnerships
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Intellectual property knowledge
Post Doc experience
Existing peer-level KEE relationships
Substantial experience in a strategy-setting role in Pharma
Global experience within the pharmaceutical industry (>5 years)
Working knowledge of EMA requirements
