One of our clients are seeking a Health and Safety Manager. This is an initial 3-month fixed term contract however, there is an opportunity for this to become a permanent position.
As a Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and expert guidance across the business, ensuring advice is delivered effectively, efficiently, safe and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor all relevant incidents ensuring the accuracy of the data and that incidents are investigated to a satisfactory outcome.
• Assume the role of investigating manager for serious incidents.
• Participate in the development of a high performing service to deliver corporate aims, objectives, and aspirations of the company to achieve a safe and secure environment.
• Developing and implement a strategy and policy framework that supports the company in meeting its legal and mandatory obligations.
• Advise and guide all areas with their risk assessments, work with the risk management department and other groups who monitor compliance policies and procedures, review incident data and inform changes.
• Compile and regularly review all incidents and risks to the health & safety function and provide direction and guidance to the health & safety committee.
• Develop, maintain and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relating to the health & safety audit function.
• Complete audits and report on results
• Manage and maintain the COSHH coordinator and the COSHH system.
• Monitor and co-ordinate all associated works ensuring compliance with relevant current legislation.
• Respond to complaints, FOI requests and other safety related issues.

Experience and Background
- Minimum of working 5 years in a health & safety related environment whereby H&S is their prime role, ideally as a Health and Safety Manager.
- Working knowledge of current UK and European Health & Safety Legislation.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development with a registered body, preferably IOSH.
- Experience of risk management or other national safety institutions.
- Experience of using Datix or similar Database for reporting and analysis.
- •A good understanding of Root Cause Analysis and other investigative techniques.
