My Client is a very exciting and growing Biotech using cutting edge technology to satisfy unmet needs in the Ophthalmology arena. They are looking for a Patient Diagnosis Liaison to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Patient Diagnosis Liaison (PDL) is a core member of a field team of clinically focused professionals who will function within the Medical Affairs organisation. The primary remit of the PDL is to work closely with the Clinical Operations Team to identify patients for our development programs. This field-based position will interact with a broad array of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, research coordinators, and other key staff at both university hospitals, local hospitals and community ophthalmic practices. This role requires exceptional communication and collaboration skills, as the PDL role will be expected to work closely with many key internal functions. PDLs are also responsible for creating disease and company awareness within the medical community related specifically to the business’ clinical programs. Extensive domestic travel will be required.


  • Partner with Clinical Operations to support the referral of patients from identified hospitals and ophthalmic practices into the business’ clinical trial sites
  • Meet with HCPs from the business’ clinical trial sites to help identify suitable sources of patients for referral into the business’ clinical trials
  • Meet with HCPs from primary care and other referral sites to support the referral of suitable patients to the business’ clinical trial sites
  • Increase disease awareness related to targeted areas of research and clinical product development.
  • Participate/attend relevant scientific conferences and report valuable medical insights to internal stakeholders
  • Serve on cross-functional teams within the business to share critical medical insights to help shape and revise key internal strategies and tactics
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical knowledge of the business’ portfolio


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific field required, advanced degree in a clinically relevant field preferred
  • Experience working in ophthalmology and/or rare diseases and/or genetics preferred
  • Experience in mid/late-stage development essential
  • Experience with clinical operations and patient identification essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, including ability to create new materials to be used for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to create and an innovative mindset is essential
  • Home location within Germany
  • Language requirements: fluency in English with working proficiency in additional language/s including French, German or Spanish preferred
  • Ability to travel within Europe, with occasional Global travel possible as well
