As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage response, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies
As a Senior Global Medical Affairs Leader (SGMAL), you'll play a pivotal role in channelling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on improving patients' lives.
This highly strategic role will carry specific responsibilities for late stage pipeline assets and ensuring launch readiness and will lead the overall HER2 Breast Cancer strategy as well as Pan- Brand overarching strategy
Main Duties and Responsibilities
AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Global Medical Affairs Leader (SGMAL) with breast cancer as well as broader oncology expertise to work on our HER2-directed antibody drug conjugate which is a highly important Brand with unprecedented evidences, transformative potential and very large development program across multiple tumours, including Breast, Lung, Gastric, Colorectal Cancer.
The role reports to the Global Medical Affairs Head of the Franchise.
The SGMAL, will lead a team of Global Medical Affairs Leaders and is accountable for of developing and executing integrated medical plans, and ensures the timely, high quality input into global development and brand plans.
An important element of this role is therefore to develop strategic and long-term partnerships with relevant external oncology stakeholders and decision makers, through the development of AZ's scientific leadership with scientific organizations, external experts, HTA/payer organizations and patient advocacy groups to help inform and develop a best-in-class medical affairs capabilities aligned with the medical needs of our portfolio.
This role will require matrix leadership and broad internal cross-functional collaboration with multiple global medical and development teams, marketing team as well as teams in key affiliates. Based on a deep scientific understanding of the disease area, unmet medical needs, treatment options and medical issues, you will enable the organization to help develop tailored medical solutions. You will also be involved in the coordination of above product medical affairs activities in breast cancer in collaboration with the other Medical Affairs Leaders across the organization.
Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD)
Extensive experience in pharmaceutical industry or relevant medical/clinical experience minimum.
Medical affairs experience in oncology therapy area, including in-market medical affairs, with regional or global experience also being desirable.
Proven track record in product launches with a strong strategic focus
Understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of outcomes research /payer access processes
Proven ability to generate, analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data
Track record of successfully developing and executing Scientific Plans both in terms of evidence generation (interventional studies and RWE), scientific communications and external expert engagements
Ability to manage multiple projects and products simultaneously to ensure timely, on-target and within budget accomplishment of tasks
The candidate is expected to have strong project management skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including development, marketing, and health outcomes.
Good communication and presentation skills in English
Knowledge/ experience in Breast Cancer area is highly desired
