We are looking for experienced project management professionals for an exciting and rewarding position within our Technology Programme Management department. Parexel is significantly transforming and we require experienced change leads to manage and lead complex technology projects and programs through their entire lifecycle. You will help us build the project management capability and be part of a world-class, global team.

This is an office-based role located at our modern office in Nottingham city centre which has onsite catering, excellent transport links and is a great working environment.

Job Purpose:
The Associate Director, Project Management works closely with the Technology Portfolio & Program Management team, PI IT, the Business Owners and Project / Scrum team(s). The Associate Director, Project Management manages resources in order to plan, estimate and carry out programmes / projects of work to time, budget and quality targets and in accordance with appropriate standards, methods and procedures (including secure software development).The Associate Director, Project Management facilitates improvements by changing approaches and working practices, typically using recognised models, best practices, standards and methodologies.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide advice, assistance and leadership in improving the quality of software development, by focusing on process definition, management, repeatability and measurement.
  • Identify plans and coordinates of a set of related projects within a programme / project of business change, to manage their interdependencies in support of specific business strategies and objectives. Work closely with key stakeholders to maintain a strategic view over the set of projects, providing the framework for implementing business initiatives, or large-scale change, by conceiving, maintaining and communicating a vision of the outcome of the programme and associated benefits.
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify the vision, and the means of achieving it as the programme / project progresses.
  • Work with business on agreement of business requirements and translation of requirements into operational plans
  • Determine, monitors, and reviews of programme / project scope, costs, and schedule, programme / project resources, interdependencies and programme / project risk.
  • Consultancy
  • Manages provision of consultancy services, and/or management of a team of consultants. In own areas of expertise, provides advice and guidance to consultants and/or the client through involvement in the delivery of consultancy services. Engages with clients and maintains client-relationships. Establishes agreements/contracts and manages completion and disengagement.
  • Portfolio, programme and project support
  • Takes responsibility for the provision of support services to projects. Uses and recommends project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking projects. Sets up and provides detailed guidance on project management software, procedures, processes, tools and techniques. Supports programme or project control boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings.
  • Program Management
  • Plans, directs, and co-ordinates activities to manage and implement a programme from contract /proposal initiation to final operational stage including the transition into "business-as-usual"; plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the programme.
  • Project management
  • Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects (typically with significant business, political, or high-profile impact, and high-risk dependencies).
  • Qualifications

  • Growing skills for reporting up to Senior Leadership including Senior Vice Presidents and Vice
  • Presidents

  • Knowledge and Experience:
  • A thorough understanding of generic Project Life Cycle management controls
  • A thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to manage and delegate work as part of a team in a matrix environment
  • Related business experience (project manager and/or equivalent) typically gained over significant and overall experience would be preferable
  • Growing ability to line manage others including mentoring and coaching
  • Education:
  • Degree in Life Sciences, Business Management, or Computer Science field, or equivalent.
