This position is for Calyx, formerly Parexel Informatics. With 250 new drug approvals in its history, Calyx has supported over 25,000 trials involving more than fourteen million patients. This role will be based at our modern state of the art office in Nottingham city centre which has excellent transport links as well as a great working environment and the feel of an innovative technology company.

This is a new and exciting opportunity to join Calyx and the applications team where there are a number of new roles being recruited at this time. Reporting to the Director Application Management this role will allow you to take full ownership of delivery and day to day activities.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Delivery of the Applications Management standard operating procedures ensuring compliance to information security policies
  • Delivery of application lifecycle management, including asset and license
  • Delivery of application support to target and standards
  • Owning the product service model and associated product SLA
  • Ensuring any R&D product Quality Issues are managed to completion
  • Measurement of the performance, cost and quality of each released product / application, identifying and leading on the delivery of identified improvements
  • Ensuring lessons are learned, risks are mitigated, and delivery of a continuous improvement plan
  • Relationship and stakeholder management
  • Vendor and partners are included in the delivery of Applications Management
  • Qualifications

    Skills:

    Portfolio Management - Ensures that programme / project leads and/or service owners adhere to the agreed portfolio management approach and timetable and that they provide the appropriate information to agreed targets.

    Change Implementation Planning & Management - Creates the business readiness plan, taking into consideration IT deployment, data migration, capability deployment (training and engagement activities) and any business activities required to integrate new digital processes.

    Service Level Management- Ensures that service delivery meets agreed service levels. Creates and maintains a catalogue of available services. In consultation with the customer negotiates service level requirements.

    Service Acceptance - Engages with project management to confirm that products developed meet the service acceptance criteria and are to the required standard. Feeds into change management processes.

    Configuration Management - Applies tools, techniques and processes to administer, track, log, report on and correct configuration items, components and changes.

    Release & Deployment - Leads the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release packages, including assessment of risk. Liaises with business and IT partners on release scheduling and communication of progress.

    System Software - Evaluates new system software, reviews updates and identifies those that merit action. Ensures that system software achieves service objectives.

    Application Support - Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for applications support. Advises on application security, licensing, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery needs.

    Measurement - Supports projects, functions or teams in the development of project and/or operational methods for measurement.

    Supplier Management - Acts as the contact point between the organisation and suppliers. Supports resolution of supplier related incidents, problems, or unsatisfactory performance.

    Relationship Management - Implements stakeholder engagement/communications plan. Manages problems and issues, resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.

    Customer Service Support - Monitors service delivery channels (human, digital, self-service, automated) and collects data.

    Knowledge, Experience & Personal Attributes:
  • Applications Management experience or relevant Service Delivery Management in a managed service environment
  • Broad knowledge of IT product development, software development and IT service delivery
  • Experience of SAFe or other Agile delivery methods
  • Experience of managing application solutions hosted both on traditional infrastructure and in the cloud.
  • Experience of the capability, responsibility and consumption models of cloud services, ideally Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong stakeholder management, relationship building and influencing skills.
  • Takes responsibility, shows leadership, initiative and self-confidence; able to cope with changing and evolving priorities.
  • Experience of collaborative working with colleagues across cultures and time-zones.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and positive stakeholder management.

  • Education:
  • ITIL v3 / v4 Foundation
  • Project Management certification, Prince 2 or PMI desirable
  • Relevant degree or industry experience.
