The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Quality Control (QC) Immunology Analyst to join the QC team in Parkville (Australia). This role is full time fixed term position until October 2021 and will be reporting to the QC Team Leader or Specialist. You will be responsible for supporting the team to enable the testing of products in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), regulatory and EHS requirements and guidelines and QC procedures and work instructions.

The Role

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the team to ensure that the assays performed in each department are prepared and executed in accordance with the code of GMP;
  • Following approved procedures perform a range of the following qualitative and/or quantitative procedures: Enzyme immunoassay (EIA), Immunodiffusion Potency assays of intermediates, bulk formulation and dispensed IVV products;
  • Work collaboratively with the team to provide a customer focused service to meet quality targets and exceed customer expectations;
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of quality records and documents, including using LIMS for data entry of QC test results and also maintaining stock levels for all items as required;
  • Assisting with investigations of Out of Specification (OOS) test results, invalid assays or when unusual data is observed as required;
  • Ensuring that functional area is audit ready at all times;
  • Assist in maintaining the work environment compliant with GMP including assisting in housekeeping duties such as: (but not limited to) washing, disinfection and decontamination;
  • Actively seeking, recommend and implement improvements to enhance quality within each functional area.


The successful candidate will possess:
  • Tertiary qualification in science, applied science or biotech and/or minimum of 2 years relevant laboratory experience;
  • Experience in general assay preparation; specifically Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for IVV products and Immunodiffusion Potency assays for IVV products;
  • Ability to accurately maintain testing records;
  • Ability to use computer systems for data entry and inquiry functions;
  • Experience in general assay preparation;
  • Strong scientific report writing skills.


In addition the successful candidate must be:
  • Affable, personable and diplomatic in communication;
  • Team orientated and responsible;
  • Committed to following through and finishing off tasks, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to manage daily deadlines and cope with the demands or a busy lab;
  • Knowledge of any of: SAP, GLIMS, TrackWise and EDMS or similar systems is desirable.


Other Important things to note:

The successful candidate may be required to undertake vaccination against the influenza virus.

This role is based on a 73.5 hours per fortnight, although working hours can fluctuate according to schedule requirements. Therefore weekend work and some weekday overtime may be required.
