Job Overview:
Do you have experience working in a high throughput industrial scientific lab?

Would you like to take part in providing COVID testing services?

Do you have a strong background using PCR techniques?

If so, we would like to speak with you about our Senior Laboratory Analyst role with Covance. As a Senior Laboratory Analyst, you'll perform both automated and manual COVID-19 PCR testing, with the overall goal of providing results that will be used for the diagnosis and management of COVID-19. Ultimately, these test results will be studied to better understand the virus to develop better treatments and a future vaccine.

This position will be a 6-month temporary contract; operating on one of the following shift patterns 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm and 11pm till 7am, five days a week. We will also operate a separate weekend shift for candidates who are interested in a part time weekend position.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Performing high throughput COVID antigen testing to deliver results within specific time frames.
  • Processing samples for the presence of COVID-19 RNA utilizing the following techniques: sample lysis within a CL3 laboratory environment, RNA extraction, qRT-PCR.
  • Performing data Interpretation and reporting of results.
  • Adhering to SOP's, work instructions and EFS Quality Management system (QMS) at all times ensuring good laboratory practice(GLP) is followed.
  • Communicate effectively to team members to ensure a smooth flow of work through the laboratory process.
  • Mentor and provide support to junior staff members to ensure testing is performed to the highest level of standards.
  • Lead COVID testing projects and liaise with external and internal clients.
  • Ensure the validity of test results through the performance of established quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Education/Qualifications:
* Scientific degree (Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences etc.)

* OR relevant scientific industry experience.
Experience:
* Experience using and knowledge of PCR technology and Molecular Biology techniques.

*Previous experience working in a high throughput laboratory.

*Previous work experience within a CL3 environment or a level 2 containment lab is preferred.

* Ability to integrate well within a dynamic and large team.

*Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritise workload in a high throughput lab.

*Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
