Overview of role and Company

I am currently partnering with a leading global CRO who are growing their European Business Development team off the back of strong results. They are looking for a Business Development Director or Senior Director to be based out of either Spain, France, Portugal or Germany with a strong track record of selling full service clinical trials, ideally stages II-IV. The organization has a fantastic full service offering and is very well structured with many cross selling opportunities, great support and a broad remit across Europe.

In the Senior Director role, you will be responsible for effectively identifying and pursuing new CRO business opportunities while enhancing relationships with existing clients.  In this role you will be responsible for generating business leads, sales prospects ,capability meetings and RFP’s in order to maximise revenue. You will be responsible for achieving sales targets specifically for CRO services and will collaborate with sales support, marketing, bids and proposals and project management to drive sales and profitability.

Some key responsibilities are listed below

  • Achieve individual CRO sales goals
  • Secure new client relationships in order to expand client base, build awareness
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships to ensure repeat business
  • Achieve, monitor and track sales including weekly reporting on sales activities, capabilities presentations, RFPs and other sales related data
  • Plan, strategize and deliver presentations
  • Champion the development and delivery of client requested RFIs and RFPs
  • Manage internal and external client relationships
  • Track drug development pipelines, within territory, in order to ensure sales success
  • Adhere to strict code of confidentiality as it relates to study subjects, sponsors, physicians, and policies and procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service to all parties involved in the clinical study process.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare related field
  • Ten plus years sales within a CRO (preferred) and/ or clinical trials environment
  • Consistent Business Development track record
  • Strong presence and confidence during presentations to customers
  • Strong relationships within pharmaceutical, biotech and/ or device companies
  • Knowledge of the industry, competitors, and sales benchmarks
  • Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding sales goals in a clinical service environment
  • Proven business development experience in cultivating and nurturing key relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and e-mail
