Job Overview:
Covance is hiring, for our new Kit Manufacturing site in mechelen, our future Automation System Manager:

The main responsabilities are :

  • Oversee the evaluation and improvement of the usage of current equipment and processes
  • Ensuring hardware and software are maintained and upgraded on the automated line.
  • Identify root causes of issues and implement corrective action to minimize downtime with a focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost
  • Interface with stakeholders to determine evolving needs.
  • Generate high level system requirements based on users' needs and cost constraints.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis to determine if requirements are best met by process, software or hardware functions.
  • Interface with software and equipment vendors so that any problems arising during design or implementation can be resolved in accordance with the fundamental architectural concepts and user needs and constraints.
  • Creates and manages a detailed project plan.
  • Ensures proper project execution of workflows, critical paths, and milestones.
  • Manages the project's budget by analyzing and explaining variances.
  • Identify resources needed, requests appropriate resources, and ensures appropriate staffing for the duration of the project to ensure efficient and successful project completion.
  • Tracks project issues and ensures appropriate resolution.
  • Reviews project deliverables to ensure high quality.
  • Reports project status to team and management through regular status reports.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Confronts issues openly and effectively.
  • Assesses training needs for the project and ensures proper training for team members and end users.
  • Build expert knowledge in our industry and convey knowledge to others.
  • Identify those duties shown above with an "*" that at client-related (relevant for positions that directly interact with or directly support external clients).
  • Maintain awareness of new manufacturing trends, materials, techniques, and technologies that may have application to our operations
  • Develop and implement programs for standardization of processes, cost reduction, and continuous improvement across departments and in collaboration with other functional leaders.
  • Recommend, budget, and implement capital projects aligned with business goals and strategic plans.


Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master degree in automation or any degree in related field.
Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in automated production involving complex product assembly on complex materials assembly and handling hardware in a complex software environment
  • Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, variable cost productivity, and fulfillment metrics, quality systems, cost systems, and fulfillment metrics, and procedures
  • Experience with high quality standards and methods are required.
  • Process improvement experience, Lean manufacturing/Six sigma.
