At AstraZeneca, we're not afraid to do things differently. We're resetting expectations of what a rare disease focus can bring to the Oncology Business Unit at AZ. This means we're are actively seeking individuals with experience, knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to help us build this new unit

AstraZeneca has developed a first-in-class medicine for the treatment of a rare and debilitating condition, and with no currently-approved medical treatment options available, it is an area of significant unmet medical need. The introduction of this medicine will bring an alternative treatment approach, offering hope to those patients where surgery or observation are the only currently-available options. This opportunity highlights the AZ commitment to put patients first.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join a high-performance team that will be accountable for the global commercialisation of this rare disease medicine, with multiple international launches over the coming years.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • The development and implementation of the global launch plan including marketing materials, launch prep plans, KEE mapping and engagement (with GMA)
  • Partnering with the EU and ROW leads to execute global initiatives
  • Support the development of the global rare disease commercial forecast and high-level P&L
  • Develop and deliver global congress presence and activities as part of the cross functional team
  • Vendor / Agency relationship
  • Support the delivery and implementation of core business planning activities
  • Collaborate closely with global medical, access and insights teams to ensure appropriate input into brandplans, monitor implementation progress and propose pro-active mitigation plans

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in science or business
  • Deep marketing experience in the rare disease market
  • Experience of working in product management and sales market-based roles
  • Effective cross-functional project team communication, leadership and influencing skills
  • Validated experience and knowledge of external customers including
    • patients, prescribers, payers, providers
  • Proven use of insights to deliver effective marketing/ commercial strategies
  • In-depth understanding of the R&D process and importance of integrating commercial and development strategic plans

Desirable attributes:

  • Relevant advanced degree (MS, PhD, PharmD, MD or MBA)
  • In-line brand marketing experience for an oncology or specialty care product
  • Global product launch, marketing or regional experience
  • Healthcare provider marketing experience
  • Market research, planning, analytics, market access/ reimbursement experience
