Medical Technologist
6 month contract Start ASAP
Pay 13.50 - 15.50/hour

A global organisation is developing within the healthcare space, setting up COVID-19 testing centres in various locations in order to support the current pandemic. They are now looking to bring on board a Medical Technologist based at their Manchester site.

The role:
Following the laboratory's procedures for test handling, processing, analysis, reporting and maintaining records of result
Performing routine lab tests under the guidance of laboratory leadership
Following the COSHH regulations and complying with the laboratory safety policy
Adhering to the laboratory's quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, conducting instrument and procedural calibrations and all required maintenance
Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correcting the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior laboratory staff

Will have a BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
Have experience as Medical Technician or related clinical training. Experience in clinical laboratory setting or acute care facility would be beneficial.
Experience working at a CL2 laboratory or above.
Have valid Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Knowledge and practice of standard precautions policies related to handling of potentially infectious agents
Knowledge of safety procedures relating to operation of laboratory equipment and handling of chemicals
Experience working as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) would be desirable but not essential.
