About the role:

Abcam, a rapidly expanding biotech organisation, is looking for a highly experienced Scientist to join Technology Development department as an application scientist. You will drive customer experience with our portfolio and represent the voice of our marketing division in the digital ecosystem.

This is a very unique and exciting opportunity for someone looking for a challenge. The position holder will work within the cutting-edge field of Cell Engineering and employ approaches and key strategic initiatives to enhance the experience of our customers. You will drive the design and production of scientific content for promotional materials. You will also contribute and support internal and external events with content including graphic and video promotional materials. As an expert in mammalian cell biology you will lead cell biology, cell signalling and genomic activities within cross-functional project teams and drive studies at the bench to solve complex technical and scientific challenges. You will use your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to increase customer awareness and build Abcam's leadership position in the cell engineering field.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Scoping and delivering strategies to build scientific promotions materials using multiple cell biology approaches
    • Plan and execute the experimental programme plan in conjunction with line manager and marketing lead with the aim to provide scientific insights for our customers
    • Coordinate experimental activities driven by other departments
    • Set-up, perform experiments as required by the programme
    • Document the work and results as appropriate, create reports and regularly provide updates on progress against milestones
    • Present the results to the team and department in a clear and concise manner, ensuring the message is clear and unambiguous to the stakeholders
    • Proactively seek information, advice and help when needed in order to achieve set goals
  • Ensure the safety of your colleagues and visitors, and support team adherence to all health and safety guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Abcam policies
  • Set and achieve high standards for research and help others if required. Assist with general housekeeping duties.

About you:

Essential requirements:
  • PhD in cell biology molecular biology or equivalent
  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing
  • Solid and proven experience in cell biology: cell signalling pathway, variety of cell types, from standard cell lines to primary cells
  • Clear understanding of the fundamentals of antibody validation
  • Extensive experience in cell and antibody validation and analysis, Immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, Western blotting, ELISA, Flow cytometry
    1. attention to detail, together with self-drive to deliver work on time while exceeding the required quality
    2. in attending conferences and generating scientific posters
