Job Details

Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings, and we have recently launched a sensor-based system that has revolutionised how people with diabetes around the world monitor their blood glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

We currently have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Senior Medical Statistician to join our R&D team at our Medical Devices Centre of Excellence in Witney, Oxfordshire.

We are keen to hear from candidates looking for an opportunity to make an impact at work and contribute to product and process development for the next generation of glucose-monitoring technology.

Unlike traditional pharma or CRO work, with Abbott Diabetes Care, you would be involved in end-to-end clinical trials for a small number of global projects that typically last from 4 to 18 months. From supporting protocol development to preparing publications, you will see the impact of your work as we continue to support the launch and growth of our FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose testing system in new markets, or for new patient populations.  In addition, there is scope to provide statistical support in the development of our pipeline products.  You would be joining of a vibrant, friendly and diverse team and can expect to work across a varied range of projects and statistical techniques.

We will expect you to be able to successfully contribute to, or manage, a small number of projects, and work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds to explain statistical concepts to them. This means that in addition to your knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis for clinical research, you’ll need to adaptable, have a keen eye for detail, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and strong team-working skills. You will have a BSc (or higher) in Statistics or Mathematics and a good working knowledge of SAS.

Witney is located about 12 miles to the west of Oxford, on the edge of the Cotswolds. As you will be working closely with colleagues from R&D, clinical, data management and regulatory affairs, you will need to be mainly office-based.

Abbott offers a highly competitive salary and attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements.
