As our Finance Assistant you will be responsible for accuracy of detailed financial transactions, which support the financial performance of the business.

Gene and cell therapy is the treatment of disease by the delivery of therapeutic DNA into a patient’s cells, providing long term and potentially curative treatments for a wide range of diseases. With the potential to transform medicine, the sector holds significant promise with the first commercial products now launched and others rapidly approaching the market.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management of bank account balances (USD, EUR and GBP), forecasting cash flow requirements, initiating and performing inter-account transfers and initiating currency purchases,
  • Download and process bank transactions for all bank accounts, perform and document monthly bank reconciliations. Match payments made outside of the BACS payment run to correct invoices or supplier accounts based on discussion with AP, or post to correct GL accounts if not AP-related,
  • Issue cash advances in multiple currencies to SET members and other employees for travel expenses, maintain relevant records and follow up on returns of cash and submission of related expense claims for cash spent,
  • Complete own monthly balance sheet reconciliations relating to own areas of responsibility
  • Overall accountability for all monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including influencing other team members to complete their individual balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner, reviewing these and following up with them on any items for which documentation and explanations are inadequate or for which there is insufficient support
  • Overall responsibility for monthly accruals, communicating with individuals in the team responsible for calculating and posting these to obtain satisfaction that they are valid, accurate and complete,
  • Deal with auditors in respect of own areas of responsibility by providing information, explanations, relevant records and responses to specific requests
  • Overall responsibility for monitoring employee timesheet completion, assisting with queries from employees, adding new employees to resource groups and transfer of costs to GL
  • Responsibility for credit card transaction transfer to GL and liaising with people in the business to ensure that submissions with supporting documentation are done by them in a timely manner
  • Ownership of the GRNI (Goods received not invoiced) account, ensuring that all balances thereon are valid and accurate

 You will need:

  • Part qualified accountant, at least AAT level 3 attained
  • An established background in in accountancy transactional processing including cash book and purchase ledger processing
  • Knowledge and experience of ERP systems, including journal posting
  • Excellent reconciliation skills
  • Understanding of accounting processes and a controls environment in order to deliver accuracy and detailed required
  • Experience in management of bank accounts and communicating with banking professionals
  • Good MS Office skills, specifically intermediate Excel skills
