The Health Economics Modelling Unit (HEMU) is a Business Unit within Parexel Access Consulting. HEMU is a dedicated unit with staff based in the UK, US and Sweden, whose purpose is to provide health economics consultancy services to international pharmaceutical and medical devices companies. The unit focuses on the development of Health Technology Assessment compliant cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses of drugs and devices. It will also include wider forms of modelling such as early economic models, payer value tools, and country adaptations. Projects may variously employ mathematical, statistical, economic and operational research modelling techniques applied to the evaluation of drugs and devices in a wide range of health conditions. The unit works closely with the other parts of Parexel Access Consulting including Evidence Review, and Pricing & Market Access which focus on systematic literature reviews, value communications, and HTA dossier development.

As a Consultant and a senior team member within the health economics team at Parexel, you will have the responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with clients, for providing technical leadership and training to more junior staff, and for managing the delivery of projects on time and to a high quality. In addition, the Consultant has an important role in writing and presenting proposals to prospective clients.

This role will be based at our Euston Office situated in central London. This is a 5 min walk to the nearest tube station and the office is open planned and has the feel of an innovative and collaborative working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project management: Managing a team of analysts to ensure timely delivery of projects to a high standard, managing client communications, and ensuring projects are delivered on budget
  • Technical leadership: Providing technical leadership and training to more junior staff within the team, and ensuring own skills are up to date
  • Management support: Provide support to the senior modelling team in managing aspects of business performance, as required
  • Business development: Writing and presenting proposals in response to a request from a client.
  • Professional conduct at all working levels within a client organization and within Parexel.
  • Complete basic job-related responsibilities, including timesheets, expense reports, maintenance of CVs, project deliverable archiving, participation in internal initiatives/projects or as a mentor as requested by management.


Qualifications

Education:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a Life science or quantitative discipline is essential.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in either Life science or a quantitative discipline is desirable, such as health economics, economics, mathematics or statistics.

Language Skills:
  • Fluent verbal and written English communication skills are essential. Any additional language skills are desirable.

Minimum Work Experience:
  • Evidence of a high level of proficiency in cost-effectiveness and budget impact modelling for pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
  • Experience with Health Technology Assessment submissions within the UK and abroad.
  • Evidence of a high level of proficiency in project management and business development.
  • Experience of working in a health economics consultancy is an advantage.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good level of competency in Excel and related software (e.g. VBA, R).
  • High analytical ability.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and in writing, especially in the relaying of technical information.
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, ambition and flexibility.
  • Fluent English, another European language will be an asset.
