Job Details

  • This is an excellent opportunity for a Lawyer/Attorney with 7-10 years' experience to work for a global company providing employment law counseling and project related support across the globe, primarily focused on Europe and the Americas.
  • Role is largely supporting HR business partners and business leadership located in Europe and the Americas with employee relations matters, investigations and policy development.
  • Supporting and/or leading projects from employment law perspective specific to either one country or multiple countries.
  • Leverage outside counsel as needed and manage usage to keep it within a strict budget.
  • Maintain expertise in the areas of employment and labour law across a diverse geographical remit. Provide input on policies, procedures and issues relating to legislation and regulations impacting the Company.
  • Maintain a positive, results-oriented work environment, building partnerships through teamwork and business-focused communication.
  • Position reports to Vice President, Global Employment Law.


Qualifications

Education
  • J.D., LL.B or equivalent qualification.
  • Bar Admission or Practicing certificate required.

Work Experience
  • Experience in the employment department of a large law firm, both employment litigation defense and employment law counseling.
  • Working knowledge of US employment law and strong knowledge of employment law basics in various European countries, particularly preferred experience with Germany, UK, France, Spain and Poland.
  • Experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department; work experience in the US strongly preferred.
  • In-house legal experience with a focus on employment law in a global organization preferred.

Required skills

  • Comfort advising on international employment laws consistent with a company's culture and legal risk tolerance.
  • Strong experience with non-competition agreements, redundancies, and negotiating employment contracts and exit agreements.
  • Experience supporting HR with works councils
  • Superior problem-solving and decision-making skills and ability to drive matters to timely resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of ownership and ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow through on numerous projects simultaneousl y.
  • Strong negotiation skills, adept at identifying and addressing the core interests and needs of various constituents.
  • Commitment to finding business-oriented, practical solutions to challenging employment law matters.
  • Interest in working in a matrixed and fast-paced environment.
