SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Scientific Solutions - Oncology (VPSSO) reports directly to the Executive Vice President , Scientific Solutions (EVPSO) and will work closely with the EVP of Business Development and the appropriate Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) to implement strategies and tactics consistent with the Company's vision of being the leader in the application of rigorous methodology and medically/scientifically advanced drug development processes producing reliable data to support highly informed drug development decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Drives development of new business via the Business Development (BD) team, including initiation/retention of relationships with current customers, potential customers, and development of new territories, new products and positioning
  • Partial accountability for agreed upon therapeutic area global sales target
  • Supports, mentors and tracks existing global business development associates across all areas of sales cycle
  • Gathers competitive intelligence, enhances client/pipeline targeting, lead generation, qualifying, presentation delivery, triaging, proposal development, bid defense prep and execution, and closing of opportunities
  • Aids BD opportunities though capabilities presentation, proposal writing, and bid defense participation to improve the team's productivity and knowledge
  • Reviews new business opportunities, services and companies that might expand the Company's portfolio
  • Develops consistent and effective marketing messages and positioning of our services in the global marketplace
  • Participates in the worldwide brand enhancement via content development for manuscripts and other professional communications by publishing in peer review journals, creating white papers/blogs and helping to generate collateral materials that showcase therapeutic and operational excellence
  • Offers consultancy services around filing strategies, regulatory & safety strategies, dossier consulting/review; preparation for/attendance at/interpretation of regulatory agency interactions
  • Assists the Company President in planning, strategy development/execution and special projects
  • Works collaboratively with therapeutic  leaders and project leaders to trouble-shoot challenges (e.g., targets not being met; BD Directors have performance issues) and help construct solutions
  • Supports existing TA-aligned operational teams and other functional areas, with core focus of developing comprehensive and effective opportunity strategies to maximize sales and repeat business
  • Reviews study/program data and provides clinical interpretation/guidance to Statistical Analysis Plan-specified and post hoc statistical analysis as well as to provide Clinical Study Report (CSR) discussion and conclusions
  • Provides support to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Manager, Data Safety & Monitoring Board ( DSMB) meetings including member identification and content material
  • Supports and provides in-house protocol and therapeutic training
  • Supports review of accumulating efficacy & safety data review and ongoing assessment of risks
  • Synthesizes data from critical functions that serve to differentiate Worldwide from our competitors: medical monitoring, operations and marketing

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of advanced doctoral degree (e.g., MD and or Ph.D., Psy.D., Sc.D.) and post-doctoral training in biological or behavioral sciences or medical degree with ten or more years' experience in clinical research and drug development
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive experience required (will consider "Rock Star" and up-and-coming professionals with 6+ years of experience if the candidate meets all other requirements
  • Board certified oncologist
  • Knowledge of all operational aspects Phase I-IV clinical research and experience working with a pharmaceutical company or Contract Research Organization is required
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and internationally required (~25 - 30%)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of therapeutic expertise through peer reviewed publications with a track record in drug development
  • Experience working in a global capacity is preferred
  • Experience with solid tumors is preferred
