Senior Directoropportunitity with CovanceMarket Access (CMA)



A great opportunity has arisento lead Covance's Market Accessgroup in London.

The Senior Director will be instrumental in the success and performance of the market access consulting organisation, and this role is a fantastic opportunity to be pivotal in the success and ongrowing development of this key offering for Covance.

The Senior Director will be developing business for the group, leading the Value Communication team, and providing senior strategic input and expertise to client engagements andinternal requests.

This leaderwill bevisible in industry and has the capability to win business,through expertise and experience. They will conceptualise client projects, manage relationshipsas well asoversee and participate in: research, data collection, analysis and interpretation; development of value messages, dossiers, reports and other written deliverables; modeling; preparation of educational materials; stakeholder and market access research; proposal development and pitch meetings; client presentations.

This leader is a driving member of the senior management team for Covance Market Access (CMA)Consulting and participating in the CMA-wide business leadership team (BLT) meetings.

Key accountabilities in the role will include:

Leadership

\u00B7Proactively lead business development opportunities for the market access business, working with the consulting leadership and sales functions.

\u00B7Oversee and lead the Value Communication team and CMA's London office

\u00B7Participate in the development of CMA's goals and objectives, both formally via the BLT, and informally though other interactions, and convey a positive representation of these to colleagues

\u00B7Proactively plan, initiate, drive, implement and monitor activities to further CMA's objectives or client needs

\u00B7Work to build strong relationships across all areas of the company, with a special focus on collaboration to support business development and excellence in client work



Project execution:

\u00B7Set standards for project quality and delivery, and client management, as a practice leader

\u00B7 Provide significant strategic, methodological, and conceptual approaches to projects, including large multi-deliverable and multidisciplinary complex projects, according to CMA best practice, mainly as a senior on projects

\u00B7 Bring solid expertise in discipline (e.g. value demonstration, modeling, PRMA) and to projects, as a project lead, project senior and acting as a cross-Covance/LabCorp subject matter expert (therapy area/methodology)

o Regardless of the deliverable, the CMA London approach to value communication and thorough up-to-date awareness of issues relevant to specialism is applied, informing advice given to client, and forming the basis of internal feedback

o In addition to leading some projects themselves, proactively supporting the project lead and team for projects to which they are assigned as a senior, reviewing work at key stages from a client's perspective and provide constructive strategic feedback, and discussing issues relating to content development, client relationship, business development and project budget

o Thorough up-to-date awareness of therapy areas for projects they supervise

\u00B7 All skills and knowledge required of more junior roles



Line management (where applicable)

\u00B7 Get the best from team members, including from those who are line managers themselves - e.g. by adapting management/review style as appropriate and encouraging learning/experience

\u00B7 Co-ordinate schedules and timelines for multiple staff on their team, and input required from other teams/personnel

\u00B7 Maximise productivity by ensuring spare capacity is productively used and seeking help from other teams when necessary

\u00B7 Proactively identify and deal with difficult or sensitive staff situations

\u00B7 Identify training needs of individuals

\u00B7 Supervise team members in the context of the company's goals and interests (e.g. relating to efficient use of time)

\u00B7 Run effective inductions for new starters

\u00B7 Conduct effective appraisal meetings and ongoing mentoring

\u00B7 Understand general HR policies



Business development

\u00B7 Thorough understanding of:

o Where our work fits with the client's strategic goals

o How CMA presents itself, relative to competitors

o Full range of services and deliverables CMA can provide

o Resource use/costs associated with deliverables

o The process by which business is won, and the role of business development directors

\u00B7 Proactive efforts in business development, by:

o Collaborating with consultancy colleagues and business development directors in order to win business and advance CMA's commercial interests

o Identifying, and acting on, situations where CMA could offer additional services to help new and existing client reach strategic goals

o Follow up on leads and opportunities (generated by themselves, other consulting team members or business development directors) in order to win business for CMA

o Writing and/or reviewing proposals for a wide range of projects and drive pitch meetings

o Having responsibility for \u2018a book of business' for an assigned company, with oversight of projects and business development for that client

\u00B7 Support project leads when acting as senior on projects in growing the value of existing client relationships, ideally expanding beyond current engagements



Project management

\u00B7 Manage projects (i.e. be the project lead responsible for overall quality, direction an d resource use/budget), including those that are difficult and /or complex, including proactively monitor resource use, discuss any issues with relevant colleagues internally and with clients, or support project lead and team, or project seniors, with these issues

\u00B7 Identify where additional input from colleagues across CMA would be beneficial, and proactively seek it

\u00B7 Co-ordinate schedules and timelines for multiple projects, which may include CMA London wide capacity management (depending on individual responsibilities)



Client management

\u00B7 Develop long-standing relationships with clients that go above and beyond existing projects so that CMA is seen as a trusted strategic partner and considered for any market access-related activity

\u00B7 Drive consultative approach to projects and client requirements, instilling this ethos in all project team members

\u00B7 Discuss delicate issues with clients (e.g. relating to resource use, timelines)



Site Management

\u00B7Covance London site requires a site lead to manage site-specific needs; this leader will serve as site contact as needed.




Education/Qualifications:
Life science or social scienceundergraduate degree from a reputable university is required. Post-graduate qualifications such as MSc/MRes or PhD are preferred.

Strong communication, organisation, analytical skills and project management skills. Demonstrated proficiency in various software programs, including Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and EndNote. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, to collaborate and work with peers and lead projects to accomplish tasks assigned.
Experience:
The Senior Director will have considerable broad experience Clinical / Pharmaceutical Market Access or in a similar environment within a consulting practice or industry. You will haveexpertise on value communication/health economics/market access activities, including leading large multi-disciplinary projects and people, providing strategic and methodological leadership and with demonstrated success in terms of business development and building client relationships.

Experience of presenting at international meetings such as ISPOR, and publications record,also expected.
