Senior Manager Global Pathogen Safety Operational Efficiency

About the team The mission of the Global Pathogen Safety (GPS) within the Research and Development department is to develop and evaluate reduction strategies for viruses and other pathogens. Our goal is to ensure the safety and trustworthiness of our products for our patients. We collaborate closely with the GPS Laboratories and other key departments worldwide to provide continuous support throughout the product lifecycle and take scientific leadership.

About the Role: The Strategy Support team within GPS leads business support initiatives to ensure efficient resource use and knowledge management across GPS pillars. As the Head of Operational Efficiency, you will spearhead efficiency and digitization programs, ensuring optimal resource management within GPS. You will drive operational efficiency strategies, manage key initiatives, and serve as a critical interface with the CSL R&D Business Operations Network, R&D Enabling Technology, and the Global Digitalization Groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies, tools, and processes to enhance GPS operational efficiency across the GPS laboratories and support functions.
• Track GPS initiatives from concept to implementation and coordinate the governance framework with the GPS leadership team.
• Oversee GPS resource planning, collaborating with digitalization groups to provide necessary tools.
• Support strategic workforce planning oversight.
• Serve as the interface with CSL R&D Business Operations Network for resourcing, budgeting support, CAPEX oversight, and objective setting.
• Drive digitalization strategies for GPS and manage related initiatives, potentially representing GPS as the GPS Digital Steward.
• Provide leadership and management to the GPS Operational Efficiency team.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Postgraduate degree (preferably MSc or PhD) or extensive experience in Life Science
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industries
• Initial leadership experience, including change management skills and experience leading in a global, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.
• Proven track record in defining and implementing operational excellence/efficiency models in a laboratory or manufacturing environment, or equivalent.
• Experience in Lean Six Sigma, Lean Lab, or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with digitization and familiarity with systems like ELNs, LIMS, and GxP environments is highly advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional, multicultural, and international teams with strong influencing and senior stakeholders’ management skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
