The Company
Our client is a global leader in microscopic imaging, with patented technologies enabling in vivo imaging of tissues across a wide range of surgical and research applications. Through innovation and collaborations locally and internationally, they are expanding their portfolio and will transform patient’s lives by enabling digital biopsies for cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

The Opportunity
As a Design Engineer, you will lead the activities of a cross functional team. Candidates at all levels will be considered for this key technical role. Your role may include the following deliverables:
  • Full design cycle of intricate mechanical components of their solutions, which includes interfaces for electrical, electronics and optical subsystems.
  • Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to source parts and services.
  • Conducting R&D by building, modifying, and testing prototype opto-electro-mechanical parts.
  • Inspection, assembly, and testing of components and systems.
  • Assist in managing internal and external projects relating to R&D and manufacturing.
  • Support the in-house manufacturing team with their day-to-day activities and ongoing projects.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate technical documentation of all design and assembly processes.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and registration as an engineer in Victoria, or equivalent.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and project management.
  • 2D and 3D CAD modelling software expertise, and experience in FEA/FEM and simulations.
  • Knowledge of CAD, CAM, and precision fabrication methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with optics, electro-mechanical systems, mechatronics, will be advantageous.
  • Prior experience in medical device development, or experience in working in an ISO13485, ISO9001 or similar regulated industry is desirable.
