CSL has a fantastic opportunity available for a Director, Policy, Advocacy & Government Affairs (PAGA) to join our team in Melbourne. In this newly created senior role you will develop and implement strategies that optimise the policy environment for CSL Seqirus in Australia, directly supporting the growth and success of the business and achieving multi-stakeholder goals for improved disease prevention and care and pandemic preparedness and response.

To best leverage expertise and stakeholder relationships across the Australian business units, you will also provide policy, advocacy and government affairs support to CSL Behring ANZ on strategic priorities, as agreed periodically by local leadership, as well as to CSL Vifor. CSL Seqirus has local responsibility for the CSL Vifor business.

You will focus on driving fast and broad access to CSL's innovative vaccines and medicines, contributing market access insights, supporting positioning for evidence-based HTA, pricing & reimbursement dossiers, leading stakeholder advocacy with Government to determine funding pathways, and expertly working within policy frameworks to deliver product access for Australian patients.

You will partner with the CSL Seqirus Asia Pacific and CSL Behring ANZ Commercial Operations teams and be a strong collaborator with the CSL Corporate Affairs team, to achieve shared objectives.

Reporting to the Head of International Policy, Advocacy and Government Affairs CSL Seqirus, you will:

  • Develop and implement innovative environment shaping strategies to support PBAC and MSAC recommendations and funding opportunities that directly contribute to CSL Seqirus, CSL Behring and CSL Vifor portfolios and pipelines.
  • Identify and analyse local market risks and opportunities, providing policy intelligence, insights and solutions to the Australian commercial leadership teams.
  • Foster strong relationships with influential stakeholders including ministerial advisors, state and federal parliamentarians, the Department of Health, government agencies, coalitions, academics, KOLs and patient advocacy groups.
  • Provide insights into progress, pitfalls, potential challenges, important stakeholders and/or opportunities of product reimbursement submissions and recommend adjustment and various options including policy and advocacy as necessary to overcome obstacles and achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Represent CSL Seqirus and/or CSL Behring in public fora and on policy priorities and issues as relevant.
  • Lead the development of relevant CSL Seqirus and CSL Behring submissions or policy materials tailored to local environments, facilitating input from internal experts in accordance with CSL frameworks.

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Australian resident with deep insights and expertise with Australia governments and the Australian healthcare systems.
  • Bachelors' degree in public policy, public health, health economics or a related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in policy and/or government affairs, including market access functional experience in the Australian pharmaceutical industry.
  • Extensive and successful track record in shaping the environment to secure successful policy and reimbursement outcomes for innovative medicines in Australia.
  • Experience in interacting directly with key stakeholders from the Department of Health, reimbursement bodies and political stakeholders.
  • In depth understanding of health economic models, patient reported outcomes studies, real world evidence data generation.
  • Previous career experience in a role internal to government would be highly regarded.
  • Highly skilled in influencing and working with cross-functional teams, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders and with scientific and commercial teams.
