The Opportunity
CSL Behring is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join the M2U Utilities Department at our Broadmeadows site. The primary role of the M2U Utilities Department is to provide a reliable source of Utilities [available and cGMP quality compliant] to the Manufacturing operations.
Reporting to the Process Engineer Manager, you will provide professional engineering services including engineering best practice on equipment selection, maintenance, operation, performance monitoring, problem-solving and improvement on the relevant systems [HVAC, Pure Water systems, Pure Steam, Bulk Reagents, Gases and Mechanical Services].

CSL Behring is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join the M2U Utilities Department at our Broadmeadows site. The primary role of the M2U Utilities Department is to provide a reliable source of Utilities [available and cGMP quality compliant] to the Manufacturing operations.
Reporting to the Process Engineer Manager, you will provide professional engineering services including engineering best practice on equipment selection, maintenance, operation, performance monitoring, problem-solving and improvement on the relevant systems [HVAC, Pure Water systems, Pure Steam, Bulk Reagents, Gases and Mechanical Services].
Your Responsibilities
- Manage Utilities operations and develop sound engineering solutions to improve the reliability and effectiveness of the Utilities equipment.
- Manage technical personnel and contractors during regular maintenance, major shutdowns, and servicing works.
- Conduct engineering works autonomously, as overseen by the Process Engineer Manager.
- Oversee operations of Utilities plants through review of operating trends, plant performance and difficulties encountered within the plant.
- Reduce plant failures and operating incidents. Determine causes, develop solutions, prepare engineering proposals and implement approved solutions.
- Provide leadership in process management, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Report and investigate critical Utilities plant deviations, execute CAPAs and implement change controls as required.
- Manage plant maintenance history, plant failures, waste and energy usage, mass/energy balances and process models. Analyse plant performance and recommend plant performance improvement programs, including revision of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Develop project briefs, system requirements and preliminary budgets to help implement projects to improve the reliability of Utilities.
Your Experience
- Tertiary Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical).
- 3+ years of Process Engineering experience. Siemens PCS 7 process control, mass & energy balancing and familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant diagnostic methods, reliability engineering and critical thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated experience with utilities plants including the maintenance and operation of the following: water purification, HVAC or mechanical services.
- Knowledge of cGMP and manufacturing operations in TGA/FDA regulated facilities.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or an allied industry will be highly valued (food, chemical, FMCG, automotive).
- Experience supervising, mentoring, coaching engineering & trade staff will be valued.
