Associate Director, Head of Knowledge Management

The Opportunity

Manage the strategic operations of a sustainable, world-class knowledge management and insight advisory service across the CSL Group. With a focus on direction and new ideas, you will manage the administration, organization, governance, strategic planning, budget administration, and personnel management of the Knowledge Management team.

You will contribute to the CSL R&D data standards, governance, and information management program development plans through multiple project, functional, and management opportunities.

The Role

• Manage the strategic operations of a sustainable, world-class information management, knowledge management and insight advisory service across the CSL Group.
• Contribute to the R&D data standards and governance program through project participation, functional leadership roles and information management consultation.
• Responsible for the administration, organization, strategic planning, budget administration, personnel management, policy formulation and management of the Global Knowledge Management team for the CSL Group.
• Ensure CSL R&D has access to the information and research to meet our needs. Maximize our data collection value and usage.
• Promote the cultural shift towards Digital Innovation, value creation and help establish data ownership.
• Lead knowledge team members based in different parts of the world and empower staff through consultative and transformational leadership by developing and mentoring to deliver great performance.
• Lead and implement new information technologies, systems, and workflows to improve specialized information delivery models and services.
• Perform vendor management activities for databases, literature services, APIs and other purchases.
• Oversee the operations and performance of global systems including internal and external information sources. This includes the management of CSL's Copyright Agency Limited license.
• Manage internal/external resources to contribute to operations and important projects that support our Digital strategy.
• Implement business improvement processes through the integration of technology, continuous improvement, and quality management practices. Develop performance metrics and programs to monitor and improve services and resource use.
• Negotiate, influence, collaborate and foster high-level relationships with partners in a cross-matrix portfolio environment to align and integrate strategies, enhance performance, and increase operational efficiencies
• Manage the cost center for resources, consulting, and data collection subscriptions.
• Manage contract development and negotiations for assets within the scope of the role.
• Partner with Global Sourcing observing the CSL policy.
• Oversee the preparation and management of legal and financial agreements and collaborative activities with vendors in the integration of globally available services and technologies

Your skills and experience

Education

(BS/BA, MS, or Ph.D.) in science-related fields such as Library Management, Information Management, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioprocess Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience. An interdisciplinary education combining Life-Sciences and Knowledge Management is preferred.

Experience

Must Have:

• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Research and Development
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Information and Knowledge Management
• Minimum experience in People Leadership roles (5yrs)
• Previous Leadership roles in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Nice to have:

• Preferred (5) years of experience in Global Library Services.
• Data standards and Governance within R&D
