Our client is a dynamic global biopharmaceutical company, and a world leader in their sector in the development of innovative pharmaceutical and medical products.

The Opportunity
Your key remit will be to manage our client's cancer biology programs and provide key biological advice and recommendations on animal efficacy models to inform commercial and research decisions. You will manage outsourced biology research programs, including selection of appropriate models and providers, costing, monitoring of milestones and reporting outcomes, and management of relationships internally and externally.
  • Interpret and communicate scientific data and strategies and lead internal team discussions in relation to specific biological research projects.
  • Liaise with external collaborators and prepare project proposals and presentations.
  • Design and evaluate new studies and make recommendations on preferred service providers.
  • Communicate with relevant research teams so they can manage the activities and priorities of staff.
  • Provide input into broader company activities such as those managed by the Nonclinical/CMC and Clinical Development groups, or other relevant areas as required.
  • Investigate market needs from a biological perspective, assess capabilities and assess feasibility of new projects.
  • Using technical and industry knowledge, work collaboratively with the Research and Development Managers, VP Business Development and other members of the management team to identify and assess new commercial opportunities and devise and design new research projects.
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of cancer biology literature, preclinical models as well as competitor IP.
  • Represent our client externally and actively seek out appropriate business and/or scientific opportunities.

The Requirements
  • PhD in Biology relevant to pharmaceuticals, eg, Cancer Biology, Protein Science/Proteomics, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutics
  • 3+ years' postdoctoral experience in cancer/cell biology or a relevant discipline
  • Experienced in xenograft models assessing anti-cancer compounds in vitro & in vivo
  • Excellent planning, organisation and time management skills
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Experience in a commercial setting is highly desirable.
