JOB SUMMARY
My client is the world's leading supplier of analytical instrumentation and software for X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) and Sample Preparation Equipment (SPE) with more than half a century of experience. The product portfolio includes a broad range of XRD, XRF and SPE systems which are used for material characterization in scientific research and development, for industrial process control applications and for semiconductor metrology.

ROLE/DESCRIPTION
- The instruments are complex systems, and you will develop skills in the following disciplines: high[1]voltage electronics, precision mechanical devices (goniometers/ precision optics), vacuum/gas/air systems, water-cooling, small-scale robotics, electronics and PC-based operating systems and applications
- You will be part of the team of 17 Engineers responsible for the installation and maintenance of XRD, XRF and SPE Instruments across Australasia.
- You will be based in Sydney however this is a role where travel is the norm, at least 80% of your time both within Sydney and interstate. Occasional travel to New Zealand and Oceania (including Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia & Indonesia) will also be necessary.
- Installation, commissioning, and calibration of capital equipment to predefined standards and time scales
- Preventative maintenance work on instruments
- Responding to breakdown calls as required and participating in an out of hours standby rota and on weekends
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must have the following characteristics:
- 5 + years of Field service experience
- Educated in a relevant subject such as Electronic Engineering, Advanced Diploma and above
- Holding, or be able to obtain a NSW or other states serviceman's radiation safety license
- IT literate with an aptitude for the implementation of complex analytical solutions
- Ability to travel at short notice
- Be able to work independently in the field and as part of a team
- Hold a valid Australian Driver's License
- Passionate about customer service
