We have an exciting opportunity available as a Head / Director of Scientific Affairs at a Global Biopharmaceutical company focussing on novel therapies for Genetic and Metabolic disorders. This is a fantastic role for someone looking for a strategic scientific position overseeing research operations whilst also crafting and implementing preclinical and clinical drug development strategy alongside the CSO and CEO. 

Responsibility summary

  • Work with the CEO and CSO to decide on company scientific strategy and policy
  • Planning, initiation, direction, and execution of company scientific research
  • Development of the research portfolio including definition of the research strategy and priorities
  • Management of scientific teams with an eye on meeting timelines and with optimal results
  • Budget management
  • Representation and promotion of the scientific interests of the organisation ensuring connections with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies 
  • Evaluation of in licensing an out-licensing opportunities including technical due diligence of acquisitions and co-development opportunities
  • Represent company on scientific and technical matters for medical and scientific investigators and the investment community
  • Manage interaction with Research and Development external partners and providers

Requirements

  • 5-7 years’ experience in a senior leadership capacity within the pharmaceutical / biotechnology sector
  • Knowledge of scientific methods and research design
  • Background in organic chemistry working with peptides, PLGA or restorable implants and new formulations
  • Familiarity with FDA, TGA, EMA, IND/NDA filings
  • Thorough understanding of ICH Good Clinical Practice, clinical trial monitoring, regulatory compliance, and statistical reporting
  • PHD or PharmD
  • MBA would be advantageous but not required
