Resignation LetterWhen it comes to handing in your resignation, it’s important to stay professional and write a resignation letter that ends your time with the company on a positive note. Here’s what you should always include in your letter:

  • Name and date
  • Name of recipient (e.g., line manager, supervisor)
  • Position you’re resigning from
  • Your last working day (as per the notice period in your contract)
  • Your signature

To keep things on a positive note, you should also include:

  • Gratitude for the opportunity
  • A reason for your resignation (e.g., a new opportunity, relocation, career break, etc.)
  • Eagerness to stay in touch in the future
  • Reassurance that you will stay committed to the role during your notice period and that you’ll be happy to help make any handovers as smooth as possible

Writing a well thought out resignation letter will help you leave your role on a positive note. This is important both for future references and in terms of maintaining a good professional network.
