Is Your Email Address Stopping You From Getting a Job?

Despite what you might think, the email address you use when applying for jobs can say a lot about you, and can affect your chances of getting your CV past the filter hurdle. Using an unprofessional email address that doesn’t say anything about who you are (e.g. fluffykittens98@hotmail.com) isn’t going to do you any favours!

A good tip is to create an email address specifically for your applications. Keep it professional by including your name in the domain and using a basic structure such as ‘firstname.surname@gmail.com’. Having a specific email address for your job applications will also help you to organise and keep track of them, so it’s a double win!

Your email address shouldn’t make any difference to the selection process, but why take the chance?
